บทนำ
past continuous (หรือ past progressive) บรรยายการกระทำที่ in progress at a specific moment in the past (กำลังดำเนินอยู่ ณ ขณะหนึ่งในอดีต) มักใช้ร่วมกับ past simple เพื่อแสดงว่าการกระทำหนึ่งถูกอีกการกระทำหนึ่งขัดจังหวะ
ประธาน+was/were+กริยา-ing
- At 8pm, I was watching TV.
- Dad was cooking when I got home.
- We were walking in the park all afternoon.

When นำการกระทำที่สั้นกว่าและจบแล้ว (past simple) ส่วน While นำการกระทำที่ยาวกว่าและกำลังดำเนินอยู่ (past continuous)
