Úvod
Minulý průběhový čas popisuje děj, který probíhal v určitém okamžiku v minulosti (in progress at a specific moment in the past). Často se používá spolu s minulým prostým časem k vyjádření toho, že jeden děj byl přerušen jiným.
Podmět+was/were+sloveso-ing

Minulý průběhový čas s when a while
When uvozuje kratší, ukončený děj (minulý prostý čas). While uvozuje delší, probíhající děj (minulý průběhový čas).
