คำถาม Yes/No และคำถาม Wh-

ในคำถามส่วนใหญ่ ประธานและกริยาช่วยจะสลับที่กัน ถ้าประโยคบอกเล่าไม่มีกริยาช่วย ให้เพิ่ม do/does (ปัจจุบัน) หรือ did (อดีต) Be ต่างออกไป: เมื่อเป็นกริยาหลัก จะสลับที่เองโดยไม่ต้องใช้ do (They were late Were they late?)
